Over the last fifteen years spent developing my own film as well as film for clients, I found myself wanting more from my black and white chemistry. Dozens of developers have graced my shelves over the years and have provided me with fantastic results, however certain nonlinearities left me with the nagging feeling that there had to be a better solution for my workflow.

As a result, I created Contour, a black and white speed enhancing developer that produces a wonderfully flat negative ideal for both scanning as well as wet printing. Characterized by smooth graduation as well as enhanced shadow detail, this developer is able to provide consistent, repeatable, and high quality results. No, this isn’t just a repackaged developer sold under some sly marketing scheme, every bottle of Contour is hand mixed by myself in my work space using ingredients supplied by commercial chemical supply companies.
